The exams and the CLB

TEF Canada or TCF Canada: which one?

Both are accepted by IRCC and yield a CLB level. The TEF has two writing tasks and two speaking tasks; the TCF has three and three, with slightly different durations. The choice mostly depends on dates and test centres near you. The preparation covers both: the placement test shows where you stand on each.

What does CLB 7 mean?

Canadian Language Benchmarks run from 1 to 12. CLB 7 roughly matches a solid B2; it is the threshold most often targeted for Express Entry and several provincial programs. The table above gives the minimum scores per skill.

How long does preparation take?

It depends on your starting level and the gap to close. A candidate who already has the French but discovers the format often gains one CLB in a few weeks of regular practice. The free placement test gives you that starting point skill by skill.

Do you use real exam papers?

No. Reproducing official papers is forbidden and teaches nothing: they do not come back. Our subjects are original and follow the format, length and instructions of each task.

Does the level certificate have official value?

No. It is a training estimate computed from your results on the platform, and the document says so in plain words. Only the certificate issued by the exam centre counts for IRCC.

Preparation

Is the assisted correction reliable?

The correction follows the official grid, criterion by criterion, and every error comes with an excerpt of your text and an explanation. The CLB shown is a training estimate, not an official result. For important productions you can request a review by a trainer.

Does the examiner speak during the assisted correction?

No. The assisted correction transcribes your recording, assesses it on the official grid and returns detailed written feedback; you are alone with the prompt. For the real interaction of the test, book a mock exam by video call with a certified examiner: they ask, follow up, and fill in the same grid.

How does the mock oral exam with an examiner work?

You choose a slot, pay for the session, and the video link appears in your area. On the day, the examiner runs the exam tasks for forty minutes, then fills in the official grid; you receive the assessment like a correction. One reschedule is possible, at least 24 hours before.

What are the monthly subjects?

Every month, the team publishes new writing and speaking subjects on current events, in the exact task format. Registered candidates are notified by email and work on them with correction. Past months' themes remain available.

Which devices can I practise on?

Computer, tablet and phone, in a recent browser. For speaking, a microphone is enough; for the mock exam with an examiner you also need a camera and a stable connection.

Pricing and payment

Is the placement test really free?

Yes, in all four skills, no credit card. You leave with an estimate per skill and the gap to your goal. One writing-correction credit is offered at sign-up.

Is there a subscription?

No. You buy a 1, 2 or 3 month access once, correction credits included. Nothing renews. If you buy again during an access, the days are added after it.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Visa or Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay, through Stripe. We store no card numbers. Prices are in Canadian dollars; if your account is in another currency, your bank converts.

What happens when my access ends?

You keep your account, history, corrections and report. Unused credits stay on the account, but submitting a new production requires an active access. If you buy another access, the days are added on.

Can I buy another access while mine is still running?

Yes, without losing a day: the new period starts when the current one ends and the credits add up. A credit top-up can also be added at any time during an access.

What if a correction fails?

The credit is refunded automatically and you can submit again. Every credit movement is visible in your log, with its reason and the balance afterwards.

Do I need an active access to book a mock oral exam?

No. The session is paid per act, with or without an access. An account is enough: that is where you will see the video link and, afterwards, the examiner's assessment.

Account and data

What happens to my voice recording?

It is used for transcription then correction, stored under a private address, and you can delete it any time from your correction. Without action on your part it is erased automatically after ninety days. See the privacy policy.

Can I delete my account and get my data back?

Yes, from your profile: a full export in one click, and a deletion that erases credentials, papers, recordings and transcripts. Only invoices are kept, anonymised, as required by accounting rules.
