The four tests
Listening
35 min39 questions in 35 minutes: short messages, dialogues, radio extracts, in increasing difficulty.
The trap: losing the thread as difficulty rises. We learn to secure the first questions and manage the last ones.
Reading
60 min39 questions in 60 minutes: short messages, articles, long texts, in increasing difficulty.
The trap: spending too long on the long texts. We work on pace.
Writing
60 minThree tasks in 60 minutes: a message (60 to 120 words), an article or account (120 to 150 words), two viewpoints (120 to 180 words).
The trap: ignoring the word limits and the communication situation. Each task has its outline.
Speaking
12 minThree tasks in 12 minutes: guided interview, interaction exercise with preparation, expressing a viewpoint.
The trap: answering too briefly in the interview, asking no questions in the interaction. We practise task by task.
What CLB 7 requires
For Express Entry, CLB 7 in all four skills unlocks the language points. In TCF Canada, estimates are given by level (A1 to C2) and by skill; CLB 7 corresponds to B2. A candidate at B2 in writing but B1 in speaking loses most of the points: we therefore work on all four skills, with separate tracking for each.

Questions about the TCF Canada
TEF Canada or TCF Canada: which one?
Both are accepted by IRCC and yield a CLB level. The TEF has two writing tasks and two speaking tasks; the TCF has three and three, with slightly different durations. The choice mostly depends on dates and test centres near you. The preparation covers both: the placement test shows where you stand on each.
What does CLB 7 mean?
Canadian Language Benchmarks run from 1 to 12. CLB 7 roughly matches a solid B2; it is the threshold most often targeted for Express Entry and several provincial programs. The table above gives the minimum scores per skill.
How long does preparation take?
It depends on your starting level and the gap to close. A candidate who already has the French but discovers the format often gains one CLB in a few weeks of regular practice. The free placement test gives you that starting point skill by skill.
Is the assisted correction reliable?
The correction follows the official grid, criterion by criterion, and every error comes with an excerpt of your text and an explanation. The CLB shown is a training estimate, not an official result. For important productions you can request a review by a trainer.
How does the mock oral exam with an examiner work?
You choose a slot, pay for the session, and the video link appears in your area. On the day, the examiner runs the exam tasks for forty minutes, then fills in the official grid; you receive the assessment like a correction. One reschedule is possible, at least 24 hours before.
